What Happens Now?

I have been asked this question many times in the last two days. Some of my friends are very angry, disillusioned and downright scared about the future of our country. I have run through all of these emotions and have decided to focus my energies on faith and strength of purpose. No, the election did not turn out as I had hoped. My candidate did not win. But I learned something from my father that still runs through my mind and heart each and every day.

"Never quit, never give up, and never lose your faith. It's the one reason you walk this earth. Because God chose this time for you."

So, I will not give up. There is hope in all things, because God is in all things. He has already won the battle and the gates of Hell shall not prevail. So what do we do now?

We continue to fight for the unborn, the disabled, and others who cannot fight for or defend themselves. When you see a soldier or marine, thank them for their service and sacrifice. Enter into those uncomfortable conversations with your neighbors and co-workers about the sanctity of life. Pray hard, fast and sacrifice for the conversion of our President-Elects heart and mind to support life. Get involved on the local level supporting candidates that believe as we do. Many of them may one day be on the national stage. Teach your children history and pass on to them an enduring faith that all things are permitted by God for a purpose and a reason, even if we do not see or understand what that may be.

Remember as a catholic there are five things that we cannot support, EVER: abortion, gay marriage, euthanasia, human cloning and stem cell research (those from fetuses only). This will not be easy, but then what in life is?

Do not lose hope, my friends. All is not lost. God is giving us a tremendous opportunity to rely on Him once again for all that is needed in our daily life. Remember we are one nation, UNDER GOD! He is the truth and the Life! We may have lost this battle, but God has won the war! So smile, love your family, defend life and serve your God, for in the end this is all that matters.
May God Bless the United States of America!
Blessings,
Mary
