"A Great Catch" by Lorna Seilstad is the second in her Lake Manawa Series following the lovely Emily Graham's progress in finding the right suitor. One that will measure up to her meddlesome aunts and grandmother. She is a woman with an independent streak who doesn't understand what all the fuss is about when it comes to love and marriage. That is until she meets up with childhood friend Carter Stockholm who is now a professional baseball player.
I love historical novels and this one really piqued my interest because it is set in 1901 as woman are fighting for the right to vote. Ms Seilstad does a wonderful job with her descriptions of setting and fashion as well as keeping the dialogue fresh and intriguing. Her secondary characters support the central story adding levity along the way. It's a great summer read if your headed to the beach or just sitting out on the screened in porch sipping a cool iced tea.
Take a trip to Lake Manawa Resort in Iowa circa 1901 and enjoy a sweet romance along the way.
