so much to be thankful for...

"Give thanks to the Lord for he is good..."
Psalm 136:1

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!!

#1097 - smiles from my girl...

I have spent the last several days baking, cooking and enjoying family time. Thanksgiving begins my favorite time of year the magical Christmas Season. My husband and I were talking over this weekend about how thankful we are for all the blessings in our lives. This past year has presented us with many, many challenges, some we have answered with grace and others not so much.

In the end we have God and one another, not a bad team if you ask me.

I have been participating in 30 Days of Gratitude on Facebook this month and hadn't realized that it had been so long since I have posted a gratitude journal here in this space.

What better time than now to fix that...

#1098 - laughter when things go awry in the kitchen...

#1097 - #1137
* smiles from my girl
* laughter in the kitchen when things go awry
* delightful smells and joyful anticipation for sweet goodness coming from the oven
* an abundant table brimming with tasty morsels
* smiles all around as we each share what we are thankful for
* photos...lots of photos to remember the insanity

my crazy family was "done" with the photos for the day...

* hearing the first Christmas Carols of the season
* singing along with the radio as we shop
* the annual "Lord of the Rings" movie marathon
*celebrating Christ the King and the end of the church year
*preparing the house for Advent
* trying a new brine for the turkey

We tried a new brine this year and it was delish...a truly stuffed turkey!

* basting and chopping and slicing
* hanging treasures on the newly scrubbed walls
* snuggle time for Courtney and her Papa
* chocolate...beautiful dark chocolate
* stories told from generations past
* time spent with my mother, laughing and remembering
* having my sister by my side to do dishes, just like when we were growing up

scrubbing away...two sisters just like when we were home in my mother's kitchen
* lemon dish washing soap that reminds me of my Grandmother's kitchen
* towels to dry and shelves to hold the myriad of dishes
* warm blankets to wrap ourselves in as we read
* new yarn to begin creating with
* selecting my Advent reading...so many wonderful choices
* the blessing of a heated home
* the blessings of a hand knit scarf and mittens to keep us warm as we venture out in the cold

Grandmothers and granddaughters...

* writing a list and checking it twice
* grandmothers and granddaughters
* enough leftovers to make several lunches for the week
* hot cider simmering away on the stove top
* my children who bring me such joy and drive me crazy from time to time
* phone calls from those we love who are far away this holiday season
* the privilege to pray for so many who are suffering
* cutting and stitching many Christmas presents
* the man who holds my hand and my heart

Happy Thanksgiving from my house to yours - Jonathan and Miss Courtney

* so thankful for the ability to help others in need
* so thankful for our own miracle five years ago that changed the course of our life
* so thankful that my husband is employed
* so thankful for all the doctors and therapists that help our Courtney
* for the last 23 years with our son...may God continue to bless him and call him closer to His heart
* for the kindness and generosity of strangers

and to all a good night...

May God bless each of you who come to this place and share in our lives. Know that you are prayed for every day. Thank you for your prayers and continued support for our daughter and her daily battles with seizures. We do not walk this journey alone. For that we are eternally grateful.
Blessings,
Mary and family
