what i wore ~ vol. 54...and there was tea...again...

Helllllooooo Dear Internet...

How y'all doin'?

Have you missed me??

I know I missed you.

No, seriously. I totally did.

Things here continue to be a bit tricky with Miss Courtney. She is still seizing at least twice a day and we are fighting hard to keep the weight on her. She is quite happy and content in between the events and has not lost any of her skills so we are hopeful that this little swing backwards will end soon. I pray it does because I really miss my sleep.

Thank y'all for covering my girl in prayer as you have for so long. I truly do not know what we would do without the support. So keep 'em coming my friends. God is good ALL the time.

OK - so let's talk fashion shall we.

This weekend was a very unusual one for me. I had two events going on and they both required a different look. First up, was a bridal shower on Saturday. It the first one I have attended in quite awhile and I have to admit I was pretty excited. I love ALL things wedding.

It was a lovely little gathering for a beautiful faith filled couple that will marry in August. If they are any indication, the churches future is a strong one.

I was really in a preppy mood this weekend so I chose a pink and green color combo the make things simpler on my very tired brain. It was a beautiful day weather wise, but comfort is always at the top of my list. My dress is a cotton jersey from Lands End @ Sears, the sandals are from Target, 3-4 years ago, and the sweater is Talbots I think. The flower pin and earring are from Charming Charlies. Gotta love a fabulously inexpensive accessory to complete the look.

The shower was so much fun. I ended up taking pictures which is my comfort zone. So happy I was able to capture some really wonderful moments for the bride. I hope she was happy with them. Such a wonderful afternoon.

Sunday, there was Mass and then tea with my dear friend Sharon at The Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Virginia. It's an annual event put on by the Garden Society of Loudon County. Sharon is a member so I got to tag along to their summer tea.

I do love a cup of tea with a scone covered in clotted cream and jam. Yummo!!

For this outfit, I went with a pink gingham blouse and green lace cotton skirt with my favorite flats in madras plaid, all from Talbots (whose sale prices are awesome). I put on a strand of pearls, grabbed my straw bag and called it good. I was ready for tea at the plantation.

It just sounds lovely doesn't it?

Well the afternoon was that and more.

Delectable finger sandwiches, scones and clotted cream all accompanied by some wonderful orange oolong tea. Then we walked through the rose gardens, vegetable gardens and spent some time checking out the mansion itself.

All this while talking about life, writing and learning to stretch ourselves as woman to be able to care for children (both fragile and strong), ailing parents and husbands who still need strong partners to encourage and support them.

It was a wonderful weekend that I won't soon forget. There was sunshine and lots of social time which I have missed in the past few years being home with Courtney full time.

I was blessed that Jerry could be home with Courtney loving on her and taking fabulous care of our sweet girl, so Mama could have a break or three.

Thanks honey. I owe you one.
