today...not so hot...in a good way...
when I say "not so hot", what I mean is it was a good day and the air conditioning rocked!...Miss Courtney had a great day today...not a seizure in sight...we fought the sock battle all day long...she won...no socks...I shake my head in defeat...for today...tomorrow we will try the socks again...my mother's helpers came today...I am so blessed to have them...we ironed shirts...there was floor scrubbing...dusting and banana bread baking...then we went through my fabric closet...that was painful...we went through EVERY SINGLE piece of fabric...we had a "keep" pile and a "giveaway" pile...I can't believe I actually did it...I have a hard time parting with things...today was a hard day...a good day...but a hard day...after the closet we went through my cookbook shelves...I almost had a stroke...did I tell you I have a hard time letting go of things?...a very hard time...but I did it...it feels good to have only the books I use on the bookshelves...I need to go through the family's closes as well...the thought of going through Courtney's or my closet makes me want to pass out...maybe another day...far, far away...tomorrow I get to run away for an hour or two in the morning...ALONE...I am so excited...should I be this excited?...yes...yes I should...Mama needs a moment to herself...maybe several moments...in air conditioning of course...duh...
I am a compulsive yarn hoarder so I totally understand going through your fabric and cookbooks being traumatic.
ReplyDeleteIt was QUITE traumatic Jen but I will admit it has helped me focus in making those future projects happen. That way I can buy more fabric! LOL!
DeleteOh, paring down my fabric stash...I would not have been able to do that! My Mom and I just keep moving them from her house to mine and then back again depending on who feels like they need to "clean out" more! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteCookbooks, well, I did that a while ago and passed the ones I didn't use on to a friend looking for some new cookbooks. It was freeing to share them with someone that would actually use them and now I have space on my kitchen bookshelf for my teas and a few other things. I like that part of it! I did buy a nice recipe box and pretty recipe cards to keep the few recipes I liked out of the seldom used cookbooks.
Have you thought about just starting with the stuff that is too big that you still have in your closet? Easier way to go and might be encouraging to see how much weight you've lost already.... Just and idea!
Brilliant news about Miss Courtney! And, you know, some days are just no-sock days. :) And we'll keep up the prayers for continued seizure free days!
Have a great day,
Lea
Thanks Lea! Miss Courtney is a trip as always! I donated the cookbooks to help the local library. It was my feel good moment of the day. Now to resist buying new ones to replace them. So hard!
DeleteHi, my name is Patricia and I am a hoarder of books, yarn, fabric, embroidery threads & hoops, china (matched and mismatched), tote bags - well the list goes on but you understand. I consider you VERY BRAVE to get rid of some cookbooks - I use only about 4 or 5 and have about 25-30 so you see I have to clear some out.
ReplyDeleteAND I can understand Miss C's sock aversion - heck do you like to wear socks on a hot humid day? I don't - I walk in the door, take off my sandals and pull off my socks (yeah I'm one of those people - although my socks are bright and colorful) - then I cool down a bit - no socks makes a cool lady (LOL)...
Enjoy tomorrow, relax and know all will be well at home, you will be missed but in a good way.
Hi Patricia - fellow hoarder here. LOL! It's a tough place to be at times, but I do feel better now that some of it is gone. As for Miss Courtney and her socks...I give up!! Seriously...it's a losing battle. LOL!
