mary's book basket ~ booking it in 2011!

I am so excited about joining in on LIfeAsMom's Booking It In 2011! As y'all know I love to read and I really miss being in a book club. So when I saw that LifeAsMom had decided to host one this year, I was all in. She has selected 11 books, both fiction and non-fiction. You can check them out here.

On top of that she is asking for us to post our own list of books we want to read in 2011. So here is my list:
The Eleven List

One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are by Ann Voskamp - This comes out in hardback next week (squeel!) and I can't wait to get my hands on it. I love Ann so much. I have read her blog for the last three years now and her writing just speaks to my soul. She is such a gift.

Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson - I keep hearing about this book from friends who have read it and I am intrigued. The hook for me was when Publisher's Weekly called it a "wry, yet optimistic comedy of manners with a romantic twist". I'm in!

Kristin Hannah's Firefly Lane, True Colors and Winter Garden - I have had these on the shelf for a bit now. Hannah is known for her woman's fiction writing stories about mothers and daughters, sisters and best friends bonding. Great reads to lift the winter blues.

Audrey: The True Story of One child's Heroic Journey of Faith by Gloria Conde - the story of a little girl with leukemia that chronicles her last months and how she chose to love.

No Turning Back A Witness to Mercy by Fr. Donald H. Calloway - Before his conversion to Catholicism, Fr. Donald was a high school dropout who had been kicked out of a foreign country, institutionalized twice and thrown in jail multiple times. Discovering a book on Our Lady led to his conversion and ardent love of Mary and the Church.

As Always, Julia: The Letters of Julia Child and Avis DeVoto - edited by Joan Reardon - this will feed my Julia Child addiction for 2011.

I also look forward to reading books by James Patterson, David Baldacci, Joan Anderson, Nora Roberts, Lauren Winner, Tracie Peterson, Janette Oake, Francine Rivers, Irene Hannon and many, many more. It's going to be a great year.
