I missed last weeks edition of {pretty, happy, funny, real} as we were recovering from our little trauma. I still feel like I am way behind in life but I guess that's just where I am these days. I need to keep reminding myself that today is all that matters and tomorrow will take care of itself. So this weeks pictures are a little snapshot of contentment in this moment. If you want to see more joy, head on over to
Like Mother, Like Daughter and join in on the fun.

She kept shaking her head, hence the edge blur, but I have to say I love this photo. Miss Courtney is very happy 95% and I happen to think she is the most beautiful nineteen year old on the planet. Just sayin! |

This is my guy in the kitchen with his two favorite tools. He has really been there for me in the last ten days as I have devoted so much more time to Courtney's care. He can only cook two things, eggs and pancakes, but he does them VERY well. He also makes me laugh, a lot. Thanks honey for making me laugh for the last 23 years. I don't know how I would do this without you! |

This was taken with my phone last week in the ER as we were waiting on the discharge papers for Miss Courtney. Jerry HATES hospitals with a deep abiding passion, so after five or six hours he gets a little punchy. Here he was discussing the evil alien probe...I'll stop there... it was funny...yep he was VERY punchy...but cute! |

Wanna know what a menopausal rosacea laden almost 44 year old woman looks like at 3 a.m. while holding her very awake, refusing to sleep daughter? Well, I am here to oblige. NO make-up, no sleep, taken with my phone. Not so flattering BUT we were home instead of in a hospital room. Just keepin it real here at Chez Lenaburg! |
Great photos as usual Mary.
ReplyDeleteAND if I looked as lovely as a make-up free, awake in the middle of the night, Mary when I'm WEARING make-up I'd be pretty happy!

I think your "real" picture is absolutely beautiful. You can't see it because it's you, but...your love is palpable. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing love exudes from your post. My husband is also quite adept at eggs & pancakes. My thirteen year old son would love, love, love the darth dad Star Wars apron.
ReplyDeleteTo be home is so much better than a hospital room. May grace & peace be yours.
All I can say is, whatever you may see in your "Real" photo, I see a devoted mother. I've enjoyed seeing your photos and reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you!
Hello, I am visiting from LMLD. Thank you for sharing your story & your joy! I have been reading some of Courtney's story. I have a dear friend whose daughter has seizures - your writing depicts so much of what she has been through through the years -- and just wanted you to know that there are tears in my eyes both for the pain of watching your daughter not be able to tell you what's wrong & have to have a seizure to tell you and for the gratitude, acceptance, and joy that is in your life because of Courtney. It is beautiful...beauty from ashes (those hard, sleepless nights). May grace and peace continue to surround your home.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm sorry you had a hospital issue - but glad that's over with!
ReplyDeleteGlad the hospital is past for now. Those visits are usually frustrating.
ReplyDeleteLove Darth Dad apron! Hubby and I are total Star Wars Nerds.
Just browsing your blog a bit, I can see that you love your girl. I'm encouraged by that, that we can step out from where we are, trusting the Lord, and knowing He will strengthen us. Thanks for sharing your story.
Coming home from the hospital feels so heavenly...
ReplyDeleteTake care, Mary! A big hug from over here!
Ladies - I don't know what to say. Your so very kind. Miss Courtney is definitely the heart of our home and we are beyond blessed to be her parents. Life is never boring that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteThis hospital trip was a tough one and many lessons were learned. I am so grateful to so many who prayed for my girl. We really could not do this without so many lifting us up to Our Lord.
God is good all the time!
