Patsy Milstrap wants nothing to do with the past. She has moved on...or so she thinks. Author Eva Marie Everson presents a moving tale of faith, family and forgiveness in her latest Cedar Key Novel "Waiting for Sunrise".
Even though the book deals with some very weighty issues such as mental illness, abandonment and post-traumatic stress disorder the writing keeps things moving for the reader. Told in a series of flashbacks, Patsy Milstrap is forced to face the past she has been running from. This was one I could not put down. I had to know what was going to happen. I was not disappointed.
Ms. Everson has a gift for writing flawed characters who at first appear to have it all together and slowly unravel over the course of the book. They always land on their feet, lessons learned and ready to move forward but the process is fascinating. She doesn't shy away from the difficult or controversial topics for sure. It makes the book a richer reading experience.
This would be a fabulous beach read. Available June 2012 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.
This is the first book I have read by Eva Marie Everson. At first I wasn't sure I would be able to read this book because the first few chapters were so very intense! Thankfully, what I was really afraid would happen to Patsy didn't. WHEW! Soon I was very immersed in the lives of Patsy and everyone around her. Her new family, her old family, her husband and children. Her past hasn't healed, her future that isn't so certain, and the lives of her half brothers and sisters. While vividly set in the same time frame as part of my family and relatives grew up in, Pasty and her blood-kin family are dealing with issues that are timeless, and much more prevalent in today's world.
