  1. Here are the questions:
    1. What are you currently reading? The Domestic Church: Room by Room
    2. What was your favorite children's book? The Little House books and Mrs Mike
    3. How do you select what you read? For the more recent books -- reviews and word of mouth. For older books, I look at reliable book lists and also go for the classics!

  2. 1. What are you currently reading?

A book about Martin Luther, and books for the RCIA class I am taking, The Faith Explained & The catechism.

    2. What was your favorite children's book?

I do not remember reading much as a child. I would have to guess the Dr. Suess books. Fortunately, my children all love to read and be read too. I enjoy reading the Berenstein Bears books, they also just came out with a Christian series of this series.

    3. How do you select what you read?

Usually someone will recommend a book, or I will read about it on someone's blog.

  4. Oooo!!! Books, tea and chocolate!!!
    Oh my!

What am I currently reading? Working my way through the Legacy series by Janette Oke. So simple yet such wonderful, heart-lifting stories.

What was your favorite children's book? Tuck Everlasting (way before they made a movie about it) and The Boxcar Children (back when there was only the one, original book).

How Do you Select What You Read? I usually stick with books by a handful of authors whose work I like. If I get the luxury of browsing in the library or bookstore, I might pick a book just cause it looks like a good read.

  5. 1) Currently I am reading two books: G.K. Chesterton, The Apostle of Common Sense by Dale Ahlquist & Taking Charge of ADHD by Russell Barkley, PhD

    2) Favorite Children's Book: The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein

    3) How do I select books? Normally I go by word of mouth (or blog!) Sometimes when I go to the library, I'll just browse until something grabs my attention, but that doesn't happen often because all four munchkins are in tow.

  6. 1. What are you currently reading? 2 books at once. The Girl Who Played with Fire... and Mosaic of Thought: Teaching Comprehension in a Reader's Workshop. Kind of eclectic reading, right?
    2. What was your favorite children's book? I love 'Chrysanthemum' by Kevin Henkes.
    3. How do you select what you read? I am influenced by the cover...eek. Bad books generally don't have good covers!! I also read the blurb inside...

  7. Wow! Great give away!

Here are my answers to your question:
    1. I am currently reading "Story of a Soul", "Have a New Kid by Friday","Choosing to See",and I just finished "A Reliable Wife" for my bookclub.
    2. My favorite children's books growing up were: Little House series, HOP ON POP, GO DOG GO, Curious George, and I also had a Saint book I about wore out reading.

    3. I usually pick a book based on recommendations and reviews. I enjoy historical fiction, biographies, mysteries, and true crime novels. If I find a series or author I like, I will stick with them for awhile and find something similar. The bookclub I am in now makes me read things I normally wouldn't read, but am enjoying the variety.
Thanks for all your great giveaways!
Once again having trouble signing into my Google Account, so I have to post as anonymous.

  8. Hi,
I enjoy your blog very much. You taught a series of homeschool science classes at the Pohick library back in 2001(I think it was) and my oldest daughter really enjoyed them. We moved away courtesy of the AF soon after but she still remembers the classes fondly! Anyway, I am currently reading An Echo in the Bone by Diana Gabaldon and it is excellent!
My favorite children's book is Mandy by Julie Edwards and I usually pick a book either by recommendations or if the author has written other books I like to read them.
    God bless you!
    Cathy

  9. 1) I am currently reading the Nov./Dec. issue of Victoria Magazine.

    2) My favorite children's book is the Little House series.

    3) I base what I read upon my interests, and competent reviews. Lately I've been stocking the home library for my children, so what I've been looking for is usually out of print. For the kids, I'm drawn to a book that gets a negative review on Amazon like "warning, religious references" or disgust over gender stereotypes "the mom is HOME in this book", etc. ;) For me, frankly, I go through the year reading Austen, Gaskell, Wodehouse and Tolkien, and not in that order.

  10. I am and always have been an avid reader. I read 2-3 books a week. Some of my favorite childhood memories always involved a book somehow.

    1. I am currently reading "Breaking Night" by Liz Murray. It is the story of how she grew up homeless with drug addicted parents and then went on to graduate from Harvard. A dynamic, interesting read.

    2. Too many childhood favorites to list them all, but The Little House Books, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, and the Anne of Avonlea series were and still remain favorites.

    3. I choose books based on many things, reviews in the paper/magazines, friend recommendations, interesting blurb on the fly leaf, library suggestions or new books by favorite authors. I am totally open to reading most anything.

    2. Favorite childhood book. Alice in Wonderland.

    3. I often choose books on homeschooling. But I recently read a historical fiction book simply because I knew the author....and I loved it. So, right now...anything that catches my eye and keeps me reading.
