"big bertha" goes down...again...

Remember right before Christmas when "Big Bertha", Courtney's wheelchair van went down for the count? I cried and wrung my hands and worried and cried and prayed my butt off.

Then you all did this awesome thing. I cried again and praised God doing the snoopy happy dance in my kitchen. Then "Big Bertha" was fixed and three hospital bills were paid with the leftover miracle $$ and life went on swimmingly well.

Christmas came and more surprises arrived, making my family feel so incredibly loved and cared for. The New Year blew in with a fit of freezing rain and power outages, but no matter we were warm and toasty.

Miss Courtney has had a few good days and a few bad days. Such is life my friend. Such is life.

Then earlier this week we had a cold snap, better known as a "polar vortex". I should have known that when the word "vortex" is used my life is going to get very, very interesting.

Well "Big Bertha" is down again. She was just towed to the mechanic's shop and we shall see what's what on Monday. We know that the van is old and hanging on, but we do not have the financial wherewithal to take on a car payment right now, especially with all the changes coming for Courtney and our medical insurance. We have looked at used ones but there again, I don't have $22,000 sitting in my sock drawer.

Today I have cried (which I do in high stress situations), I baked bread, I have paced the floor. prayed to St Joseph and folded four loads of laundry. There may have also been a few swear words thrown around as we were trying to figure out what the best thing to do was. We decided on a dollar amount that we could scrape together and told the mechanic to call before he does anything.

Have I ever expressed to you how much I hate car stuff. I truly do. It stresses me out more than Courtney's seizures do. HA! That's saying something. I just feel like in the last three months we just can't catch a break. It's exhausting.

I refuse to give up or give in. I just can't. My Courtney is counting on her Mama to make it all OK again.

If we have to be a one car family, than that is what will have to be. It will be challenging, but then ALL parts of our life tend to be. It will take some expert planning on my part, but it's not impossible.

Nothing is with God.

As I have said before and I will say again...the generosity of God can never be outdone. Thanks to everyone who has helped us along the way...spiritually and pracitcally. We so don't deserve it, but we sure do appreciate it.

"Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen."
Ephesians 3:20-21

Would you say a prayer for my blood pressure? For Jerry's stress level. That our bodies stay strong as we will have to lift Miss Courtney when we travel. I sure would appreciate it.

Thank you...thank you...thank you...
